LGBTQ+ New Yorkers 18 to 30
Apply as a mentee
Between 18 and 30 you make a lot of decisions nobody teaches you how to make: work, where to live, who to spend time with, who you are and who you tell. Most people figure it out alone, or with friends who are figuring it out too.
A mentor is someone 50 or over, LGBTQ+ like you, who has been through those years and built a life since. They'll tell you what they've learned and they'll listen. The decisions stay yours.
The form takes about ten minutes. Describe yourself however you like.
What we ask of you
- Six months at least. It takes more than a meeting or two to know someone, and most pairs keep going after that.
- Meeting once or twice a month. Coffee, a walk, a meal, a museum, wherever and whenever suits you both.
- A two-hour orientation before you meet your match. We'll find a time with you.
- Community gatherings every month and workshops every three months. Both are optional.
- Regular check-ins with a coordinator. They're short, and you set the pace.
If you're curious and open to it, that's enough, whether or not you're out, settled or sure what you want.
